During their holiday in Ethiopia in 2014 Evelyn and Joost met two young men, Yohanes and Muluye. Both men work as tour guides since completing their studies, which had been funded by Dutch families. Because they had enjoyed so many opportunities not available to most in their country, they decided some time ago to set up a school in their native village of Lalibela. Their goal is to provide a higher quality of education than other schools in Lalibela: Merci Lal School.
At this school there are currently 6 teachers qualified to give lessons but who have too little subject knowledge to provide a high quality of education in English, Maths, Biology and Chemistry. |
